Pollution Prevention and Good Housekeeping (PPGH)
Boomi assisted the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) Bureau of Environmental Planning and Analysis (BEPA) with managing the GIS database of city-owned facilities within MS4 and direct drainage areas and generating technical reports for each site.

Project Location
New York City
Project Context
Under the Stormwater Management Plan-Municipal Separate Stormwater Sewer System (SWMP-MS4) Agreement, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued a MS4 permit to the City of New York (NYC). This permit requires City-owned facilities within MS4 and direct drainage areas to be evaluated on the effectiveness of existing stormwater control measures (SCMs) and additional SCMs that should be implemented to reduce the discharge of pollutants into the City’s waterways.
Project Challenge
The team identified gaps within the existing municipal facility GIS database and supported the design of a asset management database to document key information about the facilities including pollutants of concern, issues of compliance, corrective actions, and recommended best management practices (BMPs).
Our Solution
Our team of engineers conducted field investigations to assess pollution potential at city facilities and generated technical reports for each site with recommendations on BMPs. The asset management database was updated based on field data, with geographic information, assessment status, GI potential, and photographic records of inventory, collected from more than 300 facility assessments.
